When they’re not re-housing a bunch of Institute scientists, setting off car alarms or scrapping with their load orders, Fallout 4 players can often be found fighting their way through the many dangerous locales of The Commonwealth.

After all, the most lucrative guests only fall to the Sole Survivor because regular folks just don’t have the iron will or huge stimpak collection required to shoot their way through areas filled with mutated creatures and bloodthirsty raiders on a daily basis.

If you’re a wasteland superhero who likes to mitigate the risks of your adventurous lifestyle by donning a fully-upgraded suit of power armour, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.

Fancy donning this highly-customizable new power armour variant next time you drop into Fallout 4’s Commonwealth?

The mod in question is simply called ‘T-47R Power Armor’ and is the work of modder Pinedog. Their previous projects have added some extra paint options to some of the Nexus’ most popular power armour mods, in the form of NewerMind43 and CaptainUltima’s ‘Ultracite Power Armour’ and ‘T 65 Power Armour’.

This time, they’ve decided to have a go at creating their own fully-customizable suit, dubbed the T-47R, which you can check out in the showcase video below.

Designed to offer “a unique spin on the T-45 series of power armour”, the set’s main strengths when compared to the other variants on offer in the game are its strong resistances to both energy weapon and radiation damage, especially when fully-upgraded.

Naturally, these traits make it especially ideal for battling technologically-advanced factions like The Institute or heading deep into the Glowing Sea to hunt for rare loot being guarded by gamma-gun toting Children of Atom.

Before you head off on any such adventures, you’ll also be able to outfit your suit of T-47R with any one of an array of optional attachments, including the popular jetpack, and personalise it with an array of paints and decals.

While a regular version of the suit can be acquired by searching the area south of Fort Hagen, the mod also includes a unique version of the armour, which you can find via a series of scavenger hunts across the Commonwealth, clues to which can be found at Nick Valentine's Detective Agency in Diamond City.

Though, before you can install the mod and head off in search of this gear, you’ll first need to grab Castell’s ‘X-01 invisible flashlight remove’, as it’s required to get things working as they should.

Regardless of whether your vault dweller is now showing off their swanky new armour to some very jealous Atom Cats, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas. You can also check out our mods of the month for April 2023.
