Sony's XM line of headphones is well revered by its users and after much anticipation, the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are finally here.

The new XM5 model follows arguably one of the best noise-cancelling headphones to date, Sony's WH-1000XM4 model.

Sony WH-1000XM5 Release Date

Sony launched the new WH-1000XM5 headphones with pre-orders available from 13 May and a final release on 20 May.

You can purchase the new headphones from most major retailers including Amazon and directly from Sony's website.

Sony WH-1000XM5 Price

The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are priced at £380 / $399 / AU$649 which is more expensive than the previous XM4 model.

Sony's XM4 headphones first launched £350/$350 in 2020, which is around the same price as the XM3 headphones. These were released at an RRP of £330/$350 in 2018.

While this may sound expensive for headphones, Sony's XM series are among the best wireless headphones around and this is still less expensive than other models like the AirPods Max which retail for around $549 / £549.

While there wasn't much difference in design between the previous XM3 and current XM4 headphones, the new XM5 model offers some notable changes.

First off, it looks like the earpads appear to be larger and the headband is slightly thicker which could suggest an emphasis on comfort.

The design also appears tidier and more minimalistic with the bracket for adjusting size now situated on the earpad.

While the classic colour options 'Black' and Silver' appear the be the same as the previous generation, we're currently unsure if there will be any other colour choices.
